Lectron’s Tesla (NACS) to J1772 Adapter Review

Can you charge your non-Tesla EV on a Tesla Level 2 charging station? Yes, with an NACS to J1772 adapter, but are all adapters the same? Is the Lectron version better or worse than the competition? I review the Lectron NACS to J1772 adapter and let you know if it’s worth getting and explain why you should get one. Be sure to watch the whole thing because there are bloopers at the end of every video we make 😎 2025-01-06 UPDATE: Comments on Facebook have brought something important to my attention, and it is in line with a comment below from @stlufred. This Lectron adapter is more expensive than the A2Z Stellar adapter, especially for Canadians since Lectron does not have a Canadian Amazon page and the US exchange is terrible. A2Z sells in CDN $ and ships from Canada. On top of the price, the A2Z adapter supports up to 80A, meaning that it is good for all EVs, including pickup trucks that generally pull up to 19kW on Level 2 Charging stations, which the Lectron cannot do. Many have complained that the Kia EV6 Meridian sound system is not that good, but if you configure it with custom settings it sounds great. It may not have the punch-in-the-chest base that my previous Niro EV Harmon Kardon system had, but the Kia EV6 Meridian sound is more crisp, has tighter base, and in my opinion, has an overall better sound. The door locks have a few settings that can be adjusted in the touchscreen of the Kia EV6, EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6. Hidden in a submenu are the ability to change the auto lock from "speed" to "shift into gear", the auto unlock from "shift-to-park" to "power off", or disable the feature entirely, and you can activate "2-press unlock" which can be useful but also annoying if you want to get into the back seat of the car after starting it. The Kia Niro EV has an option called Winter Mode, which is a battery heater for winter. Not all markets have the battery heater, but for those that do you need to know how to activate it, which is what I show you in this video. This will also apply to the Hyundai Kona Electric. IMPORTANT: There is a bug with Winter Mode. If you use the Kia Connect app (previously called UVO Intelligence) to change the maximum state of charge, the Winter Mode will be deactivated automatically. You must then go into the touchscreen of the car to reactivate it.
