If you follow me on Instagram, then you might know that just last year, I moved 11,000 lbs of cement pavers by hand, twice, to make the large patio in the first picture. What happens 1 year later when you make a last-minute decision to have a pool put in? You have to (re)move those 11,000 lbs of pavers by hand, twice, again, and you have to remove the fence at the back of the driveway 🫩. I think skipping the gym yesterday was a good idea. And yes, I am having a Doppelbock from Les Trois Mousquetaires as a reward for my effort 😎.

Visiting Vermont this weekend was a lot of fun. Ben & Jerry's is obviously a place you have to visit, and a farmer's market, some excellent breakfast restaurants, a beautiful camping site found via Hipcamp, which I knew nothing about until David showed me the website, and EV charging stations that I wish we had in Québec. I hope my wife had as nice a camping weekend as I did. She was with her sister in Québec... I think I win 😎

Wouldn't it be nice if we could have the Renault R5 Electric in Canada?

Yesterday we went to Saint-Hilaire for no reason other than it is named the same as a city near mine. There was an abbey from the 9th century and it was worth the trip. We learnt that Blanquette was made there first! Blanquette is a sparkling white wine that is quite excellent and worth trying. If you are interested in trying it, look for Sieur D'Arques Première Bulle Blanquette de Limoux.

Mazamet has a tiny village called Hautpoul at the top of a mountain. To get to it you have to walk across a long suspended bridge, and the hike is pretty steep, but the view is worth it. There is a small family run restaurant called La Fringale that offers excellent food, drinks and service, I highly recommend stopping there.

If you visit Luc-sur-Orbieu in the Boutenac and Lézignan-Corbières region of the south of France, you have to stop at this winery, Famille Fabre au Château de Luc, and take the guided visit with wine tasting. You won't leave without buying a(some) bottle(s)... we did the plural version and bought bottles. It's a shame we have a limit for what we can bring home. I guess we are going to have to drink them before we leave 😎

At first it seems like any other tunnel, but the Tunnel du Malpas was built in 1680 and is the oldest and longest navigable tunnel in Europe. Watch the video to at least the part where you can see people walking on the side and you will have a sense of the size. The boat we were on is called a Péniche and we were about 50 people onboard, so not a small boat. This video was taken from the roof deck.

Visiting a winery that uses an old gypsum mine is a pretty cool experience, as was the wine tasting after visiting the mine. Terra Vinea, located in Portel-des-Corbières, is a nice place to visit and is pretty impressive.

It's impossible to convey the incredible size of le Gouffre de Cabrespine in pictures. It is 250m in height and one of the largest caves in the world. It has to be seen in person to really grasp the immensity and it is beautiful.

David is finally able to treat himself to a dream car of his, the 2025 BRZtS with 6 speed manual transmission. Beautiful car received with 33km on the odometre 😎. Congratulations David, you worked hard for it and deserve it.
